Despite the abundance of great contestants on the Australian version of The Voice in recent seasons, several of them were eliminated midway through the competition due to the strength of their opponents. Lexi X, a saxophone and vocalist from Brisbane who was fifteen years old, was one of these contestants in the show’s twelfth season. Lexi did not advance past the Battles stage despite her clear skill, but her blind audition, which has been viewed by more than one million people, is truly remarkable.

While auditioning, Levi performed a heartfelt rendition of “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes, adding his own vocal expression and impressive saxophone skills to the song. All four judges on the event couldn’t help but be captivated by his performance the moment he started singing. Jessica Mauboy listened with her eyes closed, while Jason Derulo nodded along with the music. But it was Rita Ora, who danced in her seat to Levi’s songs, who seemed to be the most enthralled by his performance.

In light of this, it should come as no surprise that Rita was the pioneer judge to use her button, which allowed her to spin around and view Levi’s appearance. Her jaw dropped when she saw how young he was, and fellow judge Jason pressed his button too, hoping to lure Levi to his squad. Levi later decided to join Rita’s squad, which included other competitors like future champion Tarryn Stokes, in part because of her apparent excitement for his singing style.

Rita was also a fan of the five-piece boyband Overnight from season 12 of The Voice Australia. During their blind audition, they sang a cover of “Larger than Life” by the Backstreet Boys. Rita was so enamored with the group that she danced in joy upon seeing their appearance and hit her button seconds after they began performing. At the conclusion of the day, Overnight managed to sway all four judges to side with Judge Guy Sebastian.
