Among Donald Trump’s children, some have been highly visible in the public eye, while others have chosen quieter lives. Tiffany Trump, for instance, has mostly kept a low profile.
Now 31 and a Georgetown University graduate, Tiffany has built a life of her own. Despite her father’s past comments suggesting she was the child he was “less proud” of, she has taken her own path. Recently, Tiffany celebrated her baby shower in anticipation of her first child—a baby boy. Surprisingly, Melania Trump, someone who has been a consistent figure in Tiffany’s life, was not in attendance.
Unlike her siblings, Tiffany has largely stayed out of the limelight. Given the nature of her father’s remarks, it’s widely believed that she may not be in line to inherit the Trump empire—but that may suit her just fine, as she’s long been forging her own way.
When Tiffany was born in 1993, her half-siblings Eric, Donald Jr., and Ivanka were going through their own family drama, dealing with the fallout of Donald Trump’s messy divorce from their mother. At the time, a 12-year-old Donald Jr. recalled how difficult it was to face headlines filled with adult themes on his way to school.
Amid this turmoil, Trump married Marla Maples, and Tiffany—often referred to as his “wild card” daughter—was born in West Palm Beach, Florida. Her name was inspired by the iconic jewelry brand Tiffany & Co.
Tiffany spent her early years in New York, surrounded by her father’s real estate empire and occasionally appearing at major family gatherings. However, her life changed at age nine when her parents divorced. Marla Maples later told Access Hollywood that while she had hoped marriage would bring out the best in each of them, they ultimately realized they weren’t right for each other.
Before marrying Trump, Maples signed a tough prenuptial agreement. According to Vanity Fair, she had sought $25 million but walked away with significantly less: a $1 million settlement and another $1 million for a home. Trump also agreed to pay $100,000 annually in child support until Tiffany turned 21—unless she got a full-time job, joined the military, or entered the Peace Corps earlier.
After the divorce, Maples left the public eye and moved with Tiffany to Calabasas, a wealthy suburb near Los Angeles. Tiffany was raised by her mother and attended the elite Viewpoint School.
In her teenage years, Tiffany dabbled in music, releasing the song Like a Bird. Although she enjoyed singing, she emphasized that school was her top priority and hoped to get into a good college. While Maples once mingled with the Kardashian family, Tiffany chose a more academic route.
Despite family tensions, Tiffany built solid relationships with her half-siblings. Ivanka Trump once helped her land a summer internship at Vogue and has always spoken warmly of her. She described Tiffany as someone she’s loved and been close to since childhood.
Continuing a family tradition, Tiffany enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania—her father’s alma mater—and graduated in 2016. She briefly stepped into the political arena during her father’s presidential campaign, delivering a speech at the Republican National Convention.
After the election, Tiffany toured top law schools and eventually selected Georgetown, where she earned her law degree in 2020. Her father praised her on social media, proud to finally have a lawyer in the family.
While Eric, Don Jr., and Ivanka have had close ties to both their father’s business and political careers, Tiffany’s relationship with Donald Trump has been more distant. In a 2004 interview, Trump mentioned Tiffany in a somewhat disconnected manner, describing her as “separate” due to the different dynamics with her mother, Marla.
Maples has acknowledged this distance, saying that while she and others in the family wished for more of Donald’s attention, they understood his commitment to work. Though he missed many of Tiffany’s events growing up, she knew her father loved her, according to Maples.
Trump once famously stated that he was proud of Tiffany—but “to a lesser extent,” citing the fact that she had just graduated college at the time. Despite this, Tiffany supported his 2016 campaign. However, sources later claimed their relationship deteriorated after Trump became president, with reports suggesting they went months without speaking and that Tiffany felt unwelcome at family events.
Melania Skips the Baby Shower
Tiffany was just five years old when her father began dating Melania Knauss, whom he later married. While Melania has had a reportedly frosty dynamic with Ivanka, her relationship with Tiffany appeared more cordial. The two have been photographed together multiple times, even during Tiffany’s childhood.
Still, when Tiffany celebrated her baby shower recently, Melania was notably absent. Tiffany, who married businessman Michael Boulos in November 2022 at Mar-a-Lago, is now expecting a baby boy. She shared the joyful news on Instagram, writing, “Such a special day celebrating our very soon to be son. 1 month to go!”
Ivanka attended the event and posted her own tribute, calling Tiffany a “wonderful mama” in the making and expressing how loved the baby already is.
So why didn’t Melania attend?
A source told People magazine that although Melania and Tiffany share a good relationship, there wasn’t a specific reason for her absence. Instead, Melania had other plans that weekend and was reportedly in New York with her son Barron, who now attends NYU’s Stern School of Business.
